Does it ever occur to you who Dajjaal is and why he's chained up in a monastery to begin with?

Postby PureQ » Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:55 am

Do you ever wonder who Dajjal is, why is he in the island somewhere in the east and chained up inside the monastery for thousands of years?

All we heard is his name and the level of fitna he is capable of triggering in the end times and that's it, we only know about the future.

We don't even know who he is or his past. Unlike the others, we have their full story but this man is hardly mentioned at all. It seems like his real identity and his past was hidden for some reason.

1) Who is Dajjaal? What was his past? What did he do?

2) Why is he in an Island chained up in a monastery? Was he punished by the kings or the locals for his trickery and deception? Did they banish him to an Island? There must be a reason because he was a son of adam, he was a human so he was raised by a mother and grew up.

3) How is he as a human living for thousands of years? He was mentioned in the Prophet's time so that means he is living for over 1,400 years.

I think it is important to raise a few points.

1.The Hadith of Fatimah bint Qays in Sahih Muslim known as حديث الجساسة is WEAK. Despite it being collected in the authentic collections. (Yes, there are some hadiths that are weak in the Saheehayn). That means the WHOLE island story is NOT authentic.

2. This Hadith was narrated by only ONE female companion, her name was Fatimah Qays. She has ONLY narrated ONE other Hadith, other than this one. No one else narrated this narration EXCEPT her.

3. Conclusively, Dajjal (or the Anti-Christ) is yet to come.

Syrian philosopher 'Adnan Ibrahim mentions this point quite astutely (for those who understand Arabic):

Enjoy.

Al-Tirmidhi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Jaami’ al-Saheeh (2253): This is a saheeh ghareeb hadeeth.

Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said in al-Istidhkaar (7/338): It is saheeh in its isnaad and transmission.

I believe that information has not been revealed yet so it is indeed a mystery.

I think its interesting that we don't know this.

There are loads of things that we are not aware of - in terms of religion and the requirements to reach Jannah and have a successful Akhirah, that is all provided for.

But there are so many other things that are left open and there is of course wisdom in that.

If you study Islamic literature its loud and clear how much of a threat he will be when he comes. Its interesting how people during the time of the Prophet (Saws) were concerned and were prepared mentally yet how many of us have bothered to learn the first 10 surahs of Surah al-Kahf. And people will say we are still a long way away.
