well the documented time line for the Vikings began in 789......(invasion of England) which coincidentally is the time where Islamic Caliphate was massively expanding. I am sure since there were boat people, they might have had traded.

During the 8th century the Vikings sacked Lisbon, which was a Moorish city at the time, and carried off much gold and slaves to Denmark.
The Muslims sent envoy's and ransomed their people leaving behind Ambassadors.

What you must understand is that North Western Europe, Holland, Denmark/Scandinavian, northern Germany, Britain, was in the grip of the Dark Ages. Merchants from southern Europe/Mediterranean didn't bother going to these regions because it was not profitable.

This was one of the primary reasons the Vikings began raiding, to gain access to textiles, gold, spices etc.
Anyhow, the Muslims developed a network of towers, which still stand, all along the Atlantic coast (Portugal), also fast boats with cannon and archers and were able to defeat the Vikings at sea.

To cut a long story short, A treaty was concluded with the king of the Vikings which gave them access to Muslim markets.
The Muslims even allowed the Vikings, known to them as North men and fire worshipers, to settle in Seville, where many Vikings accepted Islam.

Also check out the work of Richard Bulliet, who is a leading scholar in this much neglected field.
PS a lot of Historians underplay the extent to which the Vikings converted to Islam......there is no place on Earth where Allah's( swt) message was heard that didn't win many converts. :)

the Vikings were Pagans not Muslims and they never convert to islam,At the time, Andalusia was under Umayyad rule under the leadership of Abdul Rahman al-Maqs. The Viking began to raid Andalusia on the Atlantic side of the city of Lisbon by using dozens of ships. They destroyed the city, destroyed the mosques, humiliated the robberies and robbed them until they reached the city of Seville. And continued the robbery, looting and killing for days .. until the commander Abdul Rahman al-Awsat sent armies of Muslims in Andalusia to fight the Vikings and fortified Andalusia. after the attacks, the Vikings realized that they are in front of a large force and asked for truce and reconciliation 'Abd al-Rahman al-Awsat, they realized that they wouldn't invide it so they move on, they were also trading with Muslims so it was probably one of the things of islam-Vikings trade.

As the previous poster pointed out Vikings were violent pagans who believed in their own folklore Gods(Loki, Thor etc). They went on numerous looting expeditions into Modern day England and came across Christianity and were quite opposed to the idea of their being a single God. They eventually made their way to Kingdoms that accepted the way of Islam and those encounters may have inspired a certain Viking to inscribe that writing, but no Vikings were not the biggest fans of Islam or any other religion besides paganism.
