Even if they are farmers or herders they will just label them Al-Shabaab. They have no credibility whatsoever, their supposed "smart" war with precision guided missiles is a lie, they kill innocent people left and right then cover up with lies. Local people have to defeat Al-Shabaab.

Yeah you gotta take US claims with a pinch of salt.
If successive Somali govts had invested the aid money into the army, instead of stealing, the US strikes could be used to tip the balance and end Al shabab as a regional power. :)

Sometimes you don't need an army to defeat a group of people, you can implant spies who send back valuable intel, they can also sabotage them or even kill their leaders, but none of that is put on the table because the Yankees with their military complex lie to local people and tell them they can help them defeat these terrorists when they couldn't even defeat them in Afghanistan where they spent Trillions of dollars. If their intelligence gathering is crap and they can't even kill the right people with their smart bombs, what are they good for? It's time people tell them to leave the area and let the Chinese come in to try something else, maybe a guerrilla warfare and track these animals on foot with locals and exterminate them.

The US airstrikes can assist the sna as they push into Al Shabaab territory.
We have to deny Al shabab any territory where they can rest and plan new atrocities.

The second phase will be to use intelligence to infiltrate and disrupt their networks in Mogadishu. :)

Yes Innocents died. Innocents always die in U.S. drone strikes it's impossible to tell who their target is that's why they still have to confirm after they've carried out a mission.

" But John Brennan, Obama’s CIA director, told me recently that he and the president have similar views. One of them is that sometimes you have to take a life to save even more lives. We have a similar view of just-war theory. The president requires near-certainty of no collateral damage. But if he believes it is necessary to act, he doesn’t hesitate.”

Drone strikes weren't used as much until Obama came around but notice even Obama doesn't care about collateral damage because their rationale is that whoever has to die along with their target is worth it because the target probably would have killed more Innocents himself at a later time. It's a twisted logic and we all know Trump is more sick than Obama , how about this headline from New York Times back in March 2017, "Trump Eases Combat Rules in Somalia Intended to Protect Civilians "

Somalia gets bombed now more than ever , even in Puntland America carries out airstrikes
