ShiribDaleys,
Somalia has a small population already, the country has a life span of 55 years and a very high child mortality rate. We have a neighbor that's over a 100 million in population and has various times in history claimed Somalia to be it's own and would love to take it.
Population control is a terrible idea for Somalia. We need more people, not less. There's power in numbers.
Comparing it to China and Japan is ludicrous, China and Japan wouldn't be any sort of power if it wasn't for the fact that they had huge populations to begin with.

Somalia isn't in either of those positions of Israel or UK, if we were your argument might have some teeth but we're not and it's foolish to think otherwise. There's power in numbers and curbing the birth rate of an already small population with a short life span and high infant mortality would lead to disaster. The one thing we got going for ourselves now is a young population. You don't want to wipe that out.ShiribDaleys,

You don't need a big population to control others
Look at israel which has only 7 million people vs entire surrounding arab nations with 300 million plus
Israel controls them
Also when UK colonised India (270 million people in the beginning of 20 th century
The British colonisers were merely 100K

Shirib, show some intelligenceIt seems like you're under the impression that we're in a bad environment because the population is too large. The number one reason for death and famine is access to resources not that there's too many people to feed. Access doesn't change with the number of people. You don't see the people in large urban centers dying of starvation, rather it's the ones in the villages who are dependent on harvest and when hat doesn't come they have no access to other resources.
I would love to hear where you think my analysis is incorrect and why you think a smaller population would work.

Daleys,
I'm really beginning to think you're just clueless. Do you really think the reason Somalia has a starving population is because we are too many? Ethiopia gets the same droughts and they are 10 times our size.
It's an issue with accessibility and not over population. You don't see people dying of starvation in Xamar, Hargeisa, Boosaaso, etc. where there is large population centers, The deaths happen in baadiyo where accessbility is limited. That's not due to population but accessibility. Use some intelligence abaayo.
A smaller population will ensure we get gobbled up by Ethiopia. It's really the worst idea ever.
Shirib
Somalia defeated Ethiopia in 1977 war when they were 4 million before getting help from cuba $russia
