3 seasons now and no trophy for the team that has arguably got the top names around the world and the team that has won the Champions League 9 times more than any other team in Europe.

Zidane, Figo, Makelele pulled the strings in that team, two are gone, one is too old, like the other 2 as well, as a result, they're finished. Their midfield is pathetic, their defence even worse and only Ronaldo can score!

But it all started when they changed their key business to shirt sales instead of football.

Madrid president, Perez, is really the source of their problems!!

So, if you were the owner/manager, what would you have done to improve the team's chances at the cup? For instance, who would you have hired, traded, fired, etc? After what you have done, be honest; do you think what you have done would really improve the team's chances? I am asking these questions, because I think football fans aren't different from armchair generals who analyze wars and battles, but if they go into the field, their chances of success isn't good.

I'm glad someone finally agrees with me! Florentino Perez is the source because he has too much control over important things such as: Who gets to play, who the club should buy/sell, which tactics to use etc.. all of these things are supposed to be managed by the coach! The guy is a good and well respected business man, but this is too much. He is interested in selling shirts rather than performing well.

Also, Beckham HAS to play every game so he can advertise those shirts. Same thing with all the stars.

Compare Barcelona's Management to that of Real Madrid and you'll see that.

a) Frank Rijkard has way more space to opperate than a Real Madrid coach has ever had under Florentino Perez.

b) He has the full support of the management.

The luck will not change for Real Madrid untill they get rid of Florentino Perez mark my words!

ps. This guy is really powerfull. Notice how none of the major Spanish sports news papers have commented badly on him. While all foreign news papers have blamed him for this.

Arabman, I see what you mean, but firstly, it doesnt take a genius to figure out and analyze what the problems are in Madrid. None of us fans could do any better, but these people who are running football clubs got all the experience, advice, consultants, money etc. So there's no excuse for those people

Xplosive, I agree Perez got too much control over things that are going on on the field, which should be left for the coach. Madrid has been falling apart because of their demanding style, impatience, and placement of business far above football. They buy every big name player they can simply to sell shirts and increase fanbases. The club does a better job setting up TV stations in other countries than it does playing in the La Liga. If they're to become successful again in the near future... Perez has to go, and the team needs to be purged and rebuilt. Stars, egos, and money don't make a team... they make a collection. Unlike team, collections don't always work well together.

No matter which coach they bring in next, things wont change. As long as Perez is there, it'll remain the same. Barcelona, as you said, should be a good example of how to run a footbal lclub.

The Spanish media doesnt dare commenting on Perez, the guy has too much power.
