Unfortunately, president Aden failed to understand the fact that fair and balanced power-sharing was essential to sustain that newly born unity. He treated the North as an ordinary region like Mudug or Banadir and treated Northern People as second class citizens depriving them of the legitimate share in the new government thus hijacking it for the South by granting premiership and other top civilian and armed forces positions to the South.
The guy who wrote this must be the most stupid alive.

''He treated the North as an ordinary region like Mudug or Banadir'' Thats how it should be

but then he says this
''Northern People as second class citizens''

Thats total Bullshi.te if he treats your regions as Somali why would he treat other Somalis as second class citizens?

Somethings will never change. The Dooroos selfish love for powers is one of those things, if there ever was a tribe that ran Somalia to the ground the Dooro will undoubtly receive the Noble prize for power-abuse, mismanagement, corruption, genocide, national theft, etc, etc ....One tribe's quest for power is what led to Somalia's collapse and to this day civil strife. On contrast, up North, the Isaaq, a much more civil tribe than the dooroos according to the early European explorers, have a much different attitude, Isaaqs are not power-hungry by any means. British-Somaliland was way ahead of any other Somalia province(and I believe it is still is) Isaaqs were seamens, businessmen, pioneers in Arts, i.e. music, poetry, as a matter of fact the Somali language itself was written by an Isaaq. Muuse Galaal. The man who wrote and sang "Somaliyeey toosoo toosso isku tiirsadayee, hadba kiina taag daranee taageera waligiinee" Y.X. Aden was Isaaq, Timacadde the man who on independece day in 1960 in Hargiesa's Freedom Garden said" kana siib, kana saar" in reference to the British flag being lowerd and the Somali flag being raised, he also was Isaaq. Another remarkable Isaaq is A/Laahi Qarshe" Qolaba caleenkeedu waa caynee, inaga keenu waa cirka u eeg" or something to that effect. Not a single Southerner was noted or quoted as the two Somali states united. From the very start the greed for power aired it's ugly Daarood head, their thurst for power at any cost have costed all of us Somalia "Marna Rashiid, marna Risaaq, dadka kalena ma rooti baa?" was used in refering to Daaroods and their hunger for power. Isaaqs contributed positively to Somalia up until the 1977/78 war with Ethiopia. Noother Somali tribe fought in that war to free Ogadenia from the Amxaars as vigirously as the Isaaqs did, ask anyone, the Isaaqs with there close proximity to Ethiopia were much more involved in that war, many Isaaq men lost their lives serving what they thought was their government and people. Cities like Hargiesa, Burco, Berbera, Wajaale were all bombed by the Ethiopians till the early 80s, later, most Isaaq generals were excuted by the Doorood government upon return from duty. Many Isaaq businessmen saw their businesses being taxed extra to feed power-hungry-dooro-officials, Isaaqs, even though oppressed by their own government, have maintained a life style superior to the rest of the Somali people, Isaaqs owned most of the big businesses in the country, some of the best buildings in Mogadishu were owned by Isaaq businessmen, i.e. Jirdah Xuseen, Ina Oomaar and many other high ranking, very qualified Isaaqs in civil service, Isaaqs were on the whole better educated than follow Somalis except for the Samaroons, another Northern tribe. By early 1982 Isaaqs have had all they could put up with from the facist Dooro government and decided to rock the bed of union or the dream refered to as Somaliweyn. SNM was born, fighting brokeout in the North, the entire Somali military was mobalized and sent to crush the rebel movement, the SNM won victory, regained independence in 1991 and vowed never to make the same mistake again. 15 years later, the rest of Somalia is still in chaos, asking and begging the Isaaqs to come back to the union, one thing is for sure, Isaaqs have made up their minds about Somaliweyn, been there, done that. This time, they are on to bigger things. Somaliland
