Below is a response I made to DD after he asked the distrbed kid why he floods my threads.

Believe it or not his flooding is an act of sheer love. The sick child is completely obsessed with me. All he wants me to do is talk to him respond to him. He opens threads begging me to respond; to acknnowledge him. I have no problem doing that for I feel awful about it but I do not wish to encourage him either. This child is clearly disturbed spending his whole life on this board. Remember he has at least 4 other nicks which means he lives in this virtual world.
What 24 year old spends so much time on a board like this? THINK. Initially I believed `he' was in fact one of the girls which you can understand(maybe not allowed out at night, not much social life etc) but someone I trust PMed me and confirmed he is NOT Amat as I believed.
So we have a lad of 24 spending his whole life on a messageboard, day in day out 24/7. Is that healthy? Absolutely not. Where are the girls and the parties and the sport and the chilling out and music bands and just hangin out? When I was 24 I would have been bored witless by boards like this.
I believe he is gay which is fine. Nothing absolutely wrong with that. But I strongly suspect he is totally unloved in any form parental, sexual, social, communal. Perhaps LH is disabled too, most likely wheelchair-bound.
So here is a young lad, disabled, unloved, gay, isolated, friendless. Makes my heart weep for him it really does. And I genuinely believe this - I am not in one of my have a gos at all. I stopped doing that against him long ago when he said in a thread about starving somali children of about 6/7 that he finds them sexually attractive. It told a story.
So what to do? do you give him some attention and affection even through ether thus further encourage his isolation and dependence on this false life? Or do you ignore him in the hope of boring him into seeking other ways of gaining love and attention.
I chose the latter and he does not like it. Hence the flooding.
