Largest Somali Sub-Clan

In terms of population, of these major Somali sub-clans or clans, which is the largest worldwide and not just within the border of Somalia.

Is it:

Issaq

Abgaal

Majeerten

Dhulbahante

or Ogaden.

In 1986 Somalis in the gulf region was estimated to be around half a million, and few of these were even Daarood never mind a sub clan like Ogaden.

Today there are more Somalis in Saudi Arabia then UK,USA and Canada put together and few of them are Darood.

Any authorties (sources) for this sweeping statement? more Somalis in KSA than the UK, US and Canada combinded? I dont buy that mate.

Like COOLMAN, I also reckon Ogadens. We live in Somalia, Kenya, Ogadeniya (I cant say Ethiopia ) and the West as well.

we are the largest somali sub-clan. it is a known fact. we live allover plus there isa famous somali line that went like something along these lines.

the largest somali clan=darood
the largest sub-clan= ogaaden
the largest sub-subclan=awliyahan
the largest sub-sub clan = afgaab which the famous CIgaal shiidad hails from if you have heard of him that is. every somali has at least heard of the heroics of this dude ! dhag dheer i heard was an ogaaden too, muhamed abdulle hassa was ogaden. siyad bare was... should i go one

So is the Midgaans , the Midgans have settles in every somali region mor then the Ogadeen, and yet they are a minority...

So telling me there are 2 here and five Ogadens there and couple in Kenya makes u no millions..

I'd say it would be the Hawiye.

Murusade alone is more than all the Harti Darood. Ogaden probably number no more than the Waceysle of the Abgaal.

But if it comes down to totals: the Darood are a minority. They are a few dozen more than the Rer Xamar.
