What is there to refute other than confirming the spread out of Darod in the Ogaden region. If it were not Ogaden that reside in the districts of the 9 regions of the Somali state, it would be Darod, either Jidwaq(Baritire and Abasgul) or Harti and Geri. I am using Ogaden and Somali region interchangeably. To Insert Oromo as the tribes that settle the Somali region is a travesty of justice and shows your deep animosity and envy. The Somali Region in Ethiopia alone has a population estimated to be 6 Million, 80% of which are Darod. (Jidwaq, Geri, Harti, Ogaden)
Coming back to the reality, I believe Majeerteen alone outnumbers Isaaq. Saxib, Not only do they settle the three largest regions of Somalia, they occupy also in large number in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mogadisho in its hay days, Kismayo the largest third city in Somalia also in its hay days and even outside. Only this sub clan was strategically equiped to extend their Sultanate to the tribes of Hawiye, let alone winning a international recognition of their sultanate.
Where does Isaq settle? Historically, the Iiidor has been dominated and pushed into the interior of the west of Somaliland. Their ancestor and posterity first settling inside Sanaag points to this fact.
It is very unfair to compare Darod with any major considred tribe in Somalia. A minority clan would have never been a dominant in the History.
Even in the era of Ahmed Gran, majority of his army came from Darod. Imagine 16th century, Darod army penetrating deeply into region of Shoa , Amhara, Tigre and further Tana River. HIstorians termed it as the Conquest of Horn of Africa. Inimitable achievement!
Coming back to the subject, i do have less time right now and this post is just a tentative part of my rebuttle. Time assured i would clear your biases and envy .
