QansaGabeyle: I would be considered INSANE if i was to say Asmara wasn't the most modern city in Africa....those guys who wrote that book got a PHD....so they do know a think or two....who is out there in AFIRCA more modern? Mogadishu? Johhansberg? do tell cuz Asmara has NO slums.




COOLMAN---ur not acting on your nick bro....it's not "cool" to try to find negative aspect in ppls culture....BTW that city is near the border with Ethiopia....ofcurse it suffered, they were in a WAR.....war isnt pretty like my girlfriend....

If any thing you should give props to Eritrea for beating Ethiopia....our population is only 4.5 million while ethiopia is 77.4 million....that's like 77 guys getting beat up by 4 guys and a midget....

Its says Modernist. not Modern
and its refering ofcourse to Modernist Architecture..more precisly

art deco..
which Asmara is filled with.


truely beautifull.

Sadly Moqadishu was very similiar to Asmara.

Asmara is a beautiful city no dout.
Africa is not just a desolate land there are beautiful aspects in every country. Eritrean Beautiful cities, somalis Sandy coasts and Oromias Thick lush jungles... and thats only east africa.

Yea man Mogadishu was somethin to see before the clan war broke out.....dose anyone got pics of it? I see this site that had good pics of it but i'm not able to find it....




Xplosive, the italians left in 1940's after England kicked them out....most of the structure standing in Asmara is a mixture of old and modern times....who made the modern times xplosive? it wasnt the jews...
