The shia hate ahlus sunnah more than they hate the kufaar, do you know that there is not a single sunni masjid in Tehran! The hypocrisy is that they have churches and synagogues in Tehran while a million ahlu sunnah are denied a place to worship in Tehran. They have fooled many sunnis with their lies. One of the biggest myths that the Iranian revolution propagated and the shia have convinced sunnis into accepting as fact is that arabs or Suadis led to the downfall of the ottoman empire. The truth of the matter is that the shia safavid opposed the ottoman khalifate and warred with them for a few hundred years! The king of Austria remarked that if it was not for the shia safavids all of Europe would be reading the Quran. I am not defending Arab nationalism or the Saudis, by accepting their lies as fact we free them from their crimes against ahlu sunnah. let us not forget that every single tragedy to befall Ahlus sunnah originates at the hands of the shia. JB, akhi I don't think the statement that there is no single sunni mosque in Tehran is true.

The conflict has a religious dimension i.e. sunnis against shias but its major foundation is ethnical; Arabs and persians have been fighting for hegemony in the region for centuries.

Caydiid I think ethnicity is secondary to this issue the violence in iraq is Arab shia and arab sunni. They have always viewed alhul sunnah as their main and worst enemy from the begining of their sect. I have read on a number if sites that there are no sunni mosques in Tehran by law! Glad you admit madcap Muzzies hate each other's guts. The Shias are far better sect than free for all Sunnism which hsa no structures, no institutions, no scholarships no jurisprudential references. all you need to set yourself up as an `Imam' or `Sheikh' or whatever is some facila hair, halitosis and feww moronic, easily gullible souls and Fatwas-R-Us is in business.

You cannot do that in Shi'ism. They have clear structures and religious leadership and hierachies and schools of references. you cannot just claim to be an Ayatollah you have to work for it and be certfied by a conclave of theological body. This system stands them in god stead during difficult times like this one.

What is amazing is not they lynched feww Sunnis but they did not ethnically cleanse the whole lot. Stuff your ahlul hadeeth up your dim sum.
