Minnesotans please help—Att: Qansa & Basra--

I need an update to these humane tales. In Australia, the majority of us live in the metropolitan areas of the major cities. However, many of you on the U.S opted to stir the pot in the right place. Though it is an old story, it starts in a small town in Minnesota called Owatonna about the influx of Somalis, and read the courteous replies and the support given to them. We need to hear the Somali side and can you update us?

Qansa and Basra

Do you live in Holyoke Massachusetts? Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

On a serious note, read this

“The Somali resettlement was/is being proposed for a town where I work, Holyoke Massachusetts…… The residents protested, and were promptly labelled racist. They argued that their town was the poorest in the state, and that it had enough problems without imporing several hundred new poor people………. The sponsors argued that Holyoke was the best town to accept these refugees because they already had so many poor people, and therefore had services set up to help those people. Ted Kennedy came out in favor of the resettlement, and stated that morally we should be bringing in more Somalian refugees, not trying to block their resettlement……... The one problem I had with the entire effort is that the people supporting the resettlement all lived in the wealthy suburbs. They were in essence pushing a problem onto a city that could not defend itself -- and onto a town that did not have many resources to start with……..”

Any information if Somalis settled there, an update urgently needed and appreciated. Laughing

You'll find somali's in the tens of percent of population in places like lewiston maine and other crap cities in the US. These gaalo people are in for a rude awakening when all the qaxooti's from Atlanta come on down to portland and lewiston each and every year.

In Canada you'll find qaxooti's settling in fort Mc murray alberta, and hamilton Ontario. Mid sized towns but nonetheless what the fukk are you doing in these places go to a big city qaxooti bastards Laughing

I disagree with you guys, if I'm married, I rather raise my family in a country, little town environment than in a smug filled, environmentally screwed up big city.

First of all its not that much difference between rural and urban --specially when it comes to malls, restuarants and stores --they are all franchize -and they are every where.
but the things is --most somalis are Muslims and don't want there kids to be attracted to the streets, drugs and gangs--there are alot of voilence in the city and also noise and pollution.
that is a good enough reason to go there.
others have no choice--as there are new arrivals taken there for resettlement .

Mohawk, there is a somali bantu community in Holyoke. They were settled there in the last 4 years. My friend did a documentary on them. I will try to locate it if I have the time. The last time I was in that time was ages ago on a trip to the college there. Holyoke is not that small. Somalis in smaller towns in Vermont and New Hemphsire. The strangest thing I have witnessed was seeing a very large red dot indian community in Presque Isle, Maine few years back. That town is in the middle of nowhere. I wonder how they found it.
