Cawar, nobody is saying Xamar is perfecto, it's known to all Moryaans and their masters still roam freely and things could go south in a blink of an eye. All we're trying to convey is what we saw over there (those of us who ventured there recently) almost a complete different picture then what's put in the websites. You have difficulty believing that bit of good news because all you ever hear about is the negative parts. And till you visit again and see with your own eyes you will always be detached to the complete reality over there.

I was asking habashoow about how he could make such a judgment about somalia being a mess, when he hasn't ventured passed beledweyne northward. Somaliland, Puntland both have relative peace and I gurantee you that a person (tribal wise) from xamar will be treated humanely in bossaso and that a person from bossaso (tribal wise) will probably not be in the same fortune.

Don't be quick to judgement everytime a supposed "faqash" criticizes Xamar. I am just as much a Reer xamar,Xamaarawi, reer konfuur, ciyaal casa balbalare as anybody. But the situation in Xamar is alot worse then in other cities. Is it because of the sheer size? Partly. Is it because their are dudes with their isbaaro's roaming through the street's unharmed and ready to pop you in a blink of a eye? Partly.

One of my inlaws came from xamar recently who is reer "xamar" tribally and he said that xamar is alright because you can buy anything you want and business is relatively well, but at the same time he heard bullets flying above him when dagaalka between the warlords and the maxkamadka islamka were duking it out. Is that really a place that you would want to vacation even if its your hometown?

My gramps and Uncle both maternally are in xamar trying to sell, land that they have and some people are trying to "squatter" themselves on it because they have no home. Is that rite? You be the judge. But just look at it from a different "kulturebrille" or Cultural glasses or in this case from different perspectives and not one militaresque mode you seem to always be in when topics discussing the capital city of SOMALIA not of a tribe is in question.

We are still waiting

So I will keep posting things that surprised me – one thing that I still think about is a supposedly arranged marriage I was being pressured to.

See I told my family relatives in advance that I didn’t come for a bride. But that sounded so ridiculous and so insincere to them. I had been pressured. Everyone asking me to hook me up with some dignified young lady who is related to them. They don’t give a damn about your input. It is their way or you are just a stupid. I had to lie and say that I am engaged about to marry a Somali sister in America. That excuse was even worse. I have been asked who she is? Her family? Her clan? If she is decent, conservative, religious…and the worst thing is …every one …even women , old and young , will tell you, you could marry up to four …why limit yourself to one wife.?
A cousin of mine took me to Mogadishu university and there I saw the most beautiful sister I have ever seen in my whole life. All covered and poised upright, intelligent , educated. She was just 19 years old, studied her whole life Islamic studies, is Hafiz Quran, knows English and speaks it with some British accent…not British but more like Kenyan with light accent…well She was so interested in practicing her English and impressing me and yes she did….well she is planning to graduate within two years and go for Malaysia but I felt she wants to go to Europe and North America. She has some negative view of America and things America is Satan. I asked her if she wants to live there? And guess what? She is dying to come to the USA. She knew I was an eligible and her chances were good since she impressed me. Well, I didn’t be a hypocrite and lead her into anything. I know look back and think about her not as a future wifey but as a smart and educated sis who has ambitions and pray for her that some asshole didn’t break her heart and her future.

land ownership is a huge thing in Somalia. You can buy an empty lots or built houses or villas if you can afford ..some go for as much as $200K..

me being broke bought a land close to jazeera beach for $2500. it $40X40 meter square and also paid $1500 for small brick house in Merka city. I got to save money and send it for rebuilding and improving the small house

Why do you have do that to me couz,

I know they under achieved this year but I have a good feeling about them next season. If they got high draft pick in the lottery and get lucky drafting quality player like Andre with the return of Willie Green… they will be fine.

AI had his best season yet and Cwebb played better than expected but the younger players in Sammy, Andre, KK and John Salmon didn’t improve from last year and that is what hurt the Sixers the most this year.

BTW, I won’t be surprise if AI is traded.

Heroine and drug trafficking is huge business in Somalia but hidden from the public... warlords and some evil men bring it from Afghanistan and Pakistan ..passes through Sharjah, UAE then Mogadishu and is supplied to East Africa, south africa and to Italy and europe ...I didn't wanna know about until one day i met this guy from toronto who used to be tax driver and somewhat a drunkard back in canada. he had been deported from there and hooked up with bad elements. he told me about it ..took me to a compound in Kaaraan near Lido..scary guys are guarding this huge compound...a lot of containers were there and he told me they do process the drug there....and package it.. then this guy came and started questioning who i am and why i came and i got scared and wanted out as soon but my canadian friend kept me there and arguing with the guy to leave me alone. i begged him to let us get out of there...well, i had to bribe him to $100.00..i thought it was a set up and i have been hassled .....
