Somali College Graduates

I won' t be graduating anytime soon. I'm going to start university this october insha alah. But I have a little project that I have been thinking about in my head for some time .

I would love to start a project that focuses on the well being of mentally impaired children with either severe learning disablities or any other physical disablities in Somalia. I feel like we have neglected those who are less fortunate as we are for long enough now. This project will mainly focus on education and providing support of any sort to families who have children with these problems.

Without wanting to sound too harsh on those physically and mentally challenged in Somalia; perhaps Lady-Q we should concentrate our efforts in lifting from ignorance the hundreds of thousands of young uneducated girls instead (those with no disabling features but have been ignored by society for one reason or another)

I am not sure how I can contribute to well being of Somalia, perhaps, now that I am about to finish my studies (real work here I come), I am in position to go there and helps myself with a young lady and in the process contribute to Somalia's GDP incremental

Lord Dip, that' s a very hard task to undertake. The rigid cultural system back home is very hard to get rid off regarding this issue. But it' s not as bad as one might think. Many young somali females get their education back home and progress to university. I'm unaware of how things are in the rest of Somalia but in my home region many girls exhale in education and at times are miles ahead of some boys

Well as you're well aware, where you hail from [Borama] is the undisputed centre of higher education and bastion of modernity . Needless to say, in the rest of Somalia, the situation in respect of girls' formal education is not good enough and is glaringly bad (the total meltdown of the Somali state obviously contribute to this) .

Lets hope for a change in the future.

NICE but i must admit if you get an offer from birmingham its a one you can't refuse , overall Birmingham is much better than Liecester uni on the League table but i think you have your own personal reasons for choosing Leicester , YOU ARE A BIT OF A PAKI AREN'T YOU

Lord Dip, The only way women back in Somalia can overcome this is by helping themselves. This has to start from within and by organising themselves I think this problem can be considered history in a short amount of time!.

I have my aunt' s in both cities so I'll be able to move in with them. I can' t be asked to live on my own in some crappy on-campus accomodation. The loneliness would kill me .

I picked Leicester Uni because it' s excellent for the course I want to do (Genentics). I love Birmingham but I really didn' t like the campus and the lectures and admission tutors seemed really mean . The faculty seems a little unorganised to me. But yeah we'll see!

Nottingham Uni is a really good one actually a friend of mine is planning to go there. Good Luck mate!

Cambus life is an experiance that you will never forget especially if you sign up for ERASMUS which is part of the student exchange programme,

i spent an entire year studying in america ,wonderfull i was happy to leave the UK for once

and your friend who applyed for nottingham i have some tricks for her incase she gets rejected on results day

aint even laughting at that coz it happen to me as i missed couple of points myself ,

You will be surprised to know how many somali students study at Birmingham walaahi, i mean you were there for an open day which most of thse students were on thier lecture sessions, or even a saturday lol

THE ONLY REASON I WAS TELLING YOU TO CHOOSE BIRMINGHAM IS WHEN YOU GRADUATE YOUR EMPLYIBILITY IS OVER 95% AND SO IS NOTTINGHAM,

hey try that ERASMUS THINGY you will be able travel around the world and meat ppl from differant cultures is an amazing thing + its sponsered by the UNI so you dont even have to pay a penny

That' s nice!. With this course I get to spend 3 months in the US (Chicago) on the final year. I'm definately looking forward to that.

How is nottingham ? my cousin is studying in staffordshire , my mother did not want him to go to nottingham as its full of white people

girl nottingham is aight , the majority of students are white but there is other ethnic students
i would rather be in a place like nottingham that be somewhere like leicester univeristy where all you see is ASIANS i fukcing hate that walaahi they have no integrity at all. they make you feel like your in CALCUTTA or something

anyway i dont know y yo brother chose stafford ? never been there is it a place with a MALI community ?
