DID you know that TXTmsg is SMS in EUROPE???? WEIRD WEIRD

Postby Homer Simpso » Fri May 05, 2006 6:36 pm

I've been receiving some txt message from a gurl over in Europe and I had her over the phone yesterday and she kept talking about sms sending over to me.. I didnt want to be inpolite so I played along with the story for a while but when she kept asking if I have received certain txs msgs she send over, I said to her... the post never arrived!! perhaps the postman will bring the SMS tomorrow.. and she just started laughing out loud!!!.. I was serious!!.. and she explained to me that its a message sent over the phone.. and I said.. do you mean txt message?.. and she goes YEAH that is, txt message....
is it weird how language barrier can screw up with things!!!!.. I have never heard of SMS before never ever.. I asked my friends here in San Francisco, noone seems to know what SMS is!!!... only one guy knew SMS and this guy has been over to EUROPE...

so, what else do I miss in Europe.... do you guys have another name for EMAILS?..

Brother, the misunderstanding was not about the language barriers, but was the limited knowledge of one of you has about the SMS (Systems Management Server) things. SMS is a well-known website across the world, but it takes one to know and use it. But you made me laugh though. Yeah, the postman will bring it tomorrow. Laughing

Homer: A SMS (Short Message Service) is the system we use here in Europe to send text messages from mobile to mobile or from PC to mobile. (I don't know if you call this kind of phones mobile, portable or cellular phone). We calle them here mobile phones.

But it was funny to hear that you were waiting some kind of post-man to bring you the SMS Laughing Laughing

I often hear that Americans are generally ignorant of anything outside of the States from my American mates and acquaintances, and you've just proven that proposition I suppose.

What else can one say apti other than GET with the programme ! Laughing
