WHY MOHAMMED SIAD BARRE IS THE GREATEST SOMAALI.....

Somaalis never give up when it comes to Sir Siad barre. They blame him For every single ounce of failure in Somalia even those which occured well after his death. My own Grandfather( may he rest in peace) used to curse everytime he heard his name. He was among the many Majeerteen elites who suffered as a result of Sir Barre' s response to their failed attempt to reclaim the supposed majeerteen claim to the presidency. What primitive thinking i would say, especially in a time when generals were pulling coupe de etate on daily basis in other countries around the world.
But the rise of the uneducated Somaali boy from Garbahaarey is something for all of us to ponder about. Siad Barre is the epiphany of Somaalia. He is one of the greatest Somali to ever rise from our homeland. Many of you would be quick to condemn this man and call him failure and other nonesense words in the political world. But greatness was never measured by the amount of good one does in this world. The vast majority of men considered to be great are not humanitarians but infact they are murders and the most ruthless of human beings. But there is something about the likes of Napolean and Barre that makes us wonder. In the politicial world there is no absolute success, you win some and you lose at some point. It is unrealistic for Somaalis expect Barre to have been some revolutionary angel, afterall, he took the country by force. He took it by the barrel of the gun and thus he had to defend his position by the same very matter. IN a time when many African countries were suffering the fate of post-colonial molestation by Britain and others, Somalia was nationalistic and one of the few African countries being tortured patriotically by one of their own. Barre no doubt put Somalia on the map, he was a revolutionary by all means, and nobody knows whatever he learned in those military corespondence courses in Italy, but surely, the man was a thinker. Siad Barre was A visionary and a thinker. He had ideas and the will to execute his plans. Now, in Somaalia, the land of nothing-doers and petty warlords without a clue, does this man not stand out as a great man? Damn right he was great, a great man with visions to broaden our borders and make strange alliances with key figures in world politics. He put SOmalia in the spotlight for good or for worse. Yes, he robbed us, and made us drunk with clanship nonesense, but i blame odeyaasha Mareerhaan for the damage of a promising man, who perhaps could have done something with this country. Barre's clan had a great hand in the demise of Siad the Great, they milked the poor coward for whatever kin blood relationship he shared with them, and surely the clan nonesense was posion to both Barre's ideas and the relationship with other clans in Somalia. Majeerteen also had a huge hand in the demise Barre's possible good for Somalia. How did they expect the man to do anything when they were under his skin every second trying to overthrow him? Majeerteen failed to fill the vacancy, they had miscalculated yet agian. But The truth was noone could actaully lead and govern Somalia like Barre, they were all only in it for the satisfaction of overthrowing the man,and none of the qabil elites knew how to govern anything, not the majeeerteen who were fighting with him and not hawiye. None of them even pondered about what kind of Somalia they wanted after overthrowing Barre. Infact, NO one even thought of the consequences of overthrowing a president. Yep, we had countless warlords without a vision, running around with their AK47s. Now, Without a doubt Siad Barre made grave errors in his presidency, he was rutless, impressionable and a towards the end of his presidency he was a coward, the biggest coward I have ever seen and a great disappointment by all counts. However, he was the best and most intriguing man our homeland has to offer thus far. In Somalia where we call poets and female singers great, he was King indeed. A ruthless Son of Biitch whose cuts have yet to heal but one of the greatest men the African horn has ever seen.
SO 21 Gun salute For Mohammed Siad Barre, the coward, the visionary, the thief and the Greatest Somaali to have ever lived.
