Where is ABDI BILE ABDI- the Somali Athletics HERO

Postby Homer Simpso » Sat May 27, 2006 8:06 am

I dont recall that much of Abdi Bille gaining his momentum in 1980's but he sure was my hero as he was to alotta somali men and women... he's truelly a somali hero. he was recently featured African Athelitics Heros... here is the link
http://www.sporting-heroes.net/athletic ... HeroID=105

however, I am wondering where is Abdi Bile? he came, won the gold and disappear'd.. one thing is for surem Abdi Bile left immense name in somalia.. somalis named him after cars such as Landcruiser pickup which somalis believe its as fast as Abdi Bile!!.....

Where is Abdi Bile>,, why isnt he engaging himself with bringing peace back to somalia because alotta people respect him!!!..

can any one find a video of this guy running, winning that gold? I cannot find so far..

he's definately my hero

Abdi Bile hälsade på oss på IP
2004-09-10 - Robert Bergqvist

I think thats a distant relative of GANG Greens, he was in the tripple jump and also the 100m sprint in the Olympics about 20 years ago, but he never mad it to the finish line.

So what makes Abdi Bile a "hero"? The fact that he won a bilad dahab ah? Is that the requirement to become a "hero"? How does a bilad dahab ah benefit Somalis? My definition of a "hero" is someone who's involved in relief, humanitarian, charity, etc works, seeking his ajr from Allah, doing it without fanfare and shunning attention/fame. A doctor who's treating the wounds of innocent Somalis in Somalia is a hero to me. What did Abdi Bile do for Somalis suffering in Somalia? I rest my case.

He seems to me like one mighty fine good will ambassador to a world that only remembers failed state and Black Hawk Down.

well somalis have so many wonderful choices in life because of this dream and our Freedoms. remember that somalis can also choose from a variety of sports, religion, equality, technology, and opportuntities. yet unfortunately, there are also the negative end of these choices- greed, hatred, prejudices, and fear.

The above artical is about a visit he made to a athletics club..

He talked generally about training and about his past and what inspired him.

He also said that at his School when he was a little boy. They had a race, 4 boys and 2 girls ran faster then him yet he won olympic gold medal.

Abdi Bile up
