Rebel,
I won't address your post in tote as it was scattershot and all over the place. But I wanna comment on this:
"It isn't enough for the atheist crowd to be content in their belief that there is not a God. It seems necessary to attempt to completely destroy the entire belief systems of others in an effort to sustain their own unbelief!"
It's not about satisfying our contentment at your expense. Neither is it a question of comportment as you repeated alluded to. Your vexation with Atheist demeanor on these boards sees zero degrees of separation from erstwhile religionist. Go back in time to any period, from antiquity right down to Renaissance to even recent times... religionists always frowned on at contrarians of every stripe. Whether it was Galileo for suggesting the earth might not be the center of the universe or Bruno for saying similar or Benjamin Franklin when he came up with the ingenuous Lightening Rod invention. Reaction to iconoclasts who tell it as IS has always been the same from the faithful. Now, why is that?
A question I'm sure will garner manifold of answers but that is really beside the point. History bears out the contrarians/athiests, EVERY SINGLE time. Pick any arguement between atheists/scientists/pragmatists defending science, truth, logic, rationality, FACTS against blind religious dogma... who left to rue was always the same. The religionists.
Speaking only for myself, my inquisitive nature impels me to question EVERYTHING. Including religion. Moreover, as emphatic being I have vested interested in what MY ppl credulously lend themselves to believe. It pains me to see my compatriots still wallowing in superstitious nonsense. TO absurd length... some of the stuff I read and see among somalis leaves baffled and dispirited. HOw can man of the 21st century believe ppl turning into animals? It's not a rhetorical question, thousands of Somalis read an article claiming such without a moment of sceptical hesitation. I personaly don't believe religion makes ppl dumb or only dumb ppl are religious but I do sincerely believe -- and again facts bear me out -- religion discourages and even sterilizes their inate intellectual curiosity.
If I tell you your religion is based on falsehood, it's not out of disrespect. I have no obligation -- be it moral, simple etiquette or otherwise -- to go along with what I don't agree with. You have the same right too. Countless times I have been or witnessed others labeled impious when in reality almost everytime the crier was outsmarted, outgunned, outclassed... So forgive me if I'm bit blasy, weary about this insolence charge. Heard it before and as I outlined substantively baseless.
