lol @ Cansharoo? do you mean canjeelo?
although i don't eat it.
Somali's have a good sense of humor, Masha'Allah. Very light hearted people.
Somali's are one big family, everyone seems to be your cousin, or the
cousin of your cousin. Never a dull moment at home, always busy and
booming with family. Typically, they have very large families and you
almost always have one or two cousins living with you.
Very into the tribal system which is not always a bad thing. I think
its awesome, people misuse it to create striff. But, if you are
somali and living in the west you should AT LEAST know the name of
your tribe or else your sooooooooo washed. Knowing more about your
tribe earns you some respect from elders and one adhering to the deen
wins all the brownie points.
Almost every somali kid has attended a duksi or still is in one. And
am not sure how much this is practiced here but back home, after every
juz, your mu3alim would throw you a halawa sandwhich party=). Although
you can make your own, you seem to attach it with ONLY quran and
finishing a juz...or i did anyway.
We love banana's just as much as we love bisbaas. And a substitute for banana's are dates. RICE AND DATES....now that's a meal lol
