A VIDEO made by one of the London suicide bombers shortly before he killed himself along with seven innocent people has been released
The video emerged on the eve of the first anniversary of the attacks and will cause further distress to the scores of bereaved families and
survivors who were preparing to honour the victims of the blasts.
Confirmation of its existence came after extracts were broadcast on the BBC.
The video stands as a last testament from Shehzad Tanweer, 22, from Beeston, Leeds, who detonated a rucksack bomb on a Tube train close to Aldgate station on July 7 last year.
Tanweer, speaking with a Yorkshire accent, is seen in the video wearing a Muslim headscarf and jabbing his finger at the camera.
"What you have witnessed now is only the beginning," he says.
The video also features a statement from Ayman al Zawahri, al-Qaeda's second in command.
It was apparently first broadcast by the Arab TV station al-Jazeera.
The only other video testament from any of the four bombers to emerge before today had been from Mohammad Sidique Khan, the ringleader of the gang.
Tanweer is considered by investigators to have been his right-hand man.
Speculation about the existence of a video testament from Tanweer stretched as far back to last September, when Khan's video was first broadcast.
Detectives believe Khan's video could well have been filmed abroad, possibly during his trips to Pakistan, and reports last year suggested Tanweer could have filmed a message at around the same time.
The video is likely to be subject to intensive visual scrutiny and painstaking forensic analysis in the hope it could yield vital clues.
Khan's video was shown for the first time on September 1 by al-Jazeera, which is based in Qatar.
In the video, Khan claimed that the British public were to blame for the terror attacks, saying it was their support for the Western governments which "continuously perpetuate atrocities" against the Islamic world that made them "directly responsible".
"We are at war and I am a soldier," the 30-year-old, who was from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, declared to widespread condemnation.
KhanÂ’s video bore the "al Sahab" logo, which means "The Clouds" and is a signature of al-Qaeda recordings.
It is still regarded by investigators as the best evidence of the group's
motivation for the attacks.
The chilling video was also cut with footage of people experimenting with explosives and images of an unidentified man circling points on a map of London.
There were also shots of militants armed with guns.
Tanweer appeared on the tape to be wearing a blue, collared top with a red and white headscarf, while al-Zawahiri appeared with a machine gun propped up on the wall behind him.
Its release appears to have been deliberately timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the bombings.
The video will seen by some as proof that al-Qaeda was behind the bombings, although it is possible TanweerÂ’s message was simply stitched together with al ZawahiriÂ’s to allow bin Laden's network to use it as a propaganda tool.
The new video could yet provide detectives with key clues in the hunt for those who supported the London bombers.
Earlier this week, detectives said they were still seeking those who helped prepare the bombers for their lethal mission.
