Oh yeah, the people of Zimbabwe have really benefitted fom that solution. Yes sir, good deal for them - except the ones who are literally starving of course.

Funny you should mention South Africa and the Afrikaners - because the ANCs solution was to reach an accomodation. The result? A country that avoided a vicious civil war, a country that is absorbing its diferent ethnic groups reasonably well, and a country that is experiencing economic growth. Not a trouble free place by any means. But considering the alternative........

Now let's look at the Palestinians. Three generations have been totally screwed. They are poverty stricken, the amount of land they control is reduced with every confrontation, their children are growing up without proper education or access to proper medical care. Yep, good deal for them.

Muslims are, and always have beeb, their own worst enemies. They just can't seem to understand the notion that sometimes compromise is a good idea.

Interesting about land rights. In Australia, the High Court annulled the term terra nullius ( no one inhabited Australia before the arrival of the British) within the Australian Constitution in the early 90'. By then, everyone, even primary school students knew there are still arround Aborigines who owned Australia for the least 50,000 years. This decission although laughable, was hard fought by an indegineous guy called Edie Mabo. For conscientitous Anglo-Saxon Australians it was a landmark decission, the High Court's Native Title (they owned the land, had connections to it), and raised their expectations for the Indigenous people to achieve economic empowerement. Regrettfully a year later, the current neo-con prime minister came to power and watered down and distinguished the Native Title completely. Indeed Mugabe should be commended, and Thabo Mbeki, of South Africa is expected to pursue a Mugabe style.

You mean Mbeki wants to turn South Africa from a democratic state to a fascist one? Or do you mean he wants to turn it from a state experiencing economic growth to a poverty stricken backwater?
