BRAMPTON - The second of 17 suspects in an alleged terror plot was granted bail this morning at a Brampton courthouse. Ahmad Ghany, 21, is the first adult accused to be released.
After hearing a joint submission by the Crown and the defence counsel, Justice of the Peace Hilda Weiss allowed him bail under the following conditions:

Ghany can have no contact, either directly or indirectly, with any of the other co-accused in the case.

A $140,000 in total sureties - $100,000 from Ghany's parents and $20,000 each from two other sureties.

Ghany will be living with his parents. He may not leave the house unaccompanied by one of his four sureties, unless he is going to school or work, has a medical emergency, is going to court or to meet with his lawyer. In any of those five special cases, he may travel alone.

He also has to report every Monday to police.

He is not allowed to leave Ontario, and is not allowed to possess firearms, weapons or ammunition.

He has to hand over all of his travel documents, including his passport, and cannot apply for any new travel documents.
Ghany's family, including his wife, mother and father congratulated each other when the decision to release him was released. His father pointed upward and thanked Allah immediately after the decision was made in the courtroom. The family and Ghany's lawyer Rocco Galati offered no comment.

Ghany is the second of the co-accused to receive bail; one of the youth suspects was granted bail last Friday.
