Should Muslims seek accomodation with the world?

Postby Steeler [Crawler2] » Mon Aug 07, 2006 3:12 am

After many years of long discussions with Muslims, I sense that a lot of Muslims believe that violent confrontation with non-Muslims is now some sort of religious obligation. That is, that Muslims believe that non-Muslim governments are illegitimate and that they must be attacked until they submit to Muslim rule and non-Muslims world-wide pay Jizyah. What is the percentage that shares this sentiment?

No MAC you are reading it wrong.

Muslims cannot handle the fact that they are now insignifigant, and Ruled by others.

Muslims feel that only muslims can rule them.
So the conflicts you see are becuase of that.

Chechnya,Kashmir,Burma(rohingay muslims), the new brewing conflict in south thailand,Palestine, and many more.

Now because muslims wether you like it or not are still a nation of some sort, what happens in kashmir, and palestine etc etc etc has an emotional affect on every muslim, and thier is the need to step in and get involved.

Muslims having been Top dog for the past 1000 years or so, have not gotten over the shock of colonialism.
Having been invaded and raped by Europe, they are still experiencing
Post traumatic shock, and the west may have forgotten about its actions during colonialsim, but for muslims its still fresh, it was just yesterday.

Ofcourse Islam is the insurmountable obstacle to Western domination/subjugation/exploitation of the rest of the world.

No, attacking non-Muslims is not a religious obligation..........but non-Muslims can't understand the fact that Islam is a comprehensive way of life.

On the contrary, I think it is some elements of the West who feel that their way is THE way & whoever doesn't toe the line should be fought.

"Manifest Destiny", "Free Market Economy" "The White Man's Burden", "Democracy", "Free, Transparent Elections"..........these are all slogans that attempt to impose a Western way of life on the rest of the world.

I think history is testament to this fact as well........let's not deny history.

From the Spanish decimation of indigenous cultures and plundering of their resources, to the British exploitation of colonies, to the US's genocide of Indians, to France's killing of over 1 million+ Algerians.

The West has done more to displace whole populations & create more worldwide strife than anything else.

That's why a war is fought every decade or so.

I think Europe/USA are the last people on Earth to be talking about violence on other peoples.

This poll simply asks a basic question. Do Muslims believe that it is religious obligation to dominate the non-Muslim world by force or not? That's why it's a poll. To get a feeling for what the Somali Muslims on the site think.

Yeah, I think they could deal with the Western world with no problem. They did it in the past, so they could do it again in the future. The problem is that Islam is full of theologists now, and theologists don't fit even with themselves. They just hate the world, whatever it is muslim or non-muslim. Have you ever seen a happy taliban? I couldn't find one single happy theologist. And -what is really happening now- if you give reasons to theologists to hate the rest of the world (iraq, israel attaking lebanon and the rest of the world doing nothing) you're fuelling the fire.

Once the theologists and this ultra-religious fashion pass away, the muslim world will become normal again and it will be as it always was for the most part of time: a peaceful world which respect its neighbours and other cultures.

I have problem with the title " Muslims". You're talking like 1.6 billions of Muslims have one authority and one voice goes and they all would listen!.

Muslims are not like that. Majority only fight for truth and justice. Muslim should be oposed to oppression no matter who or what. If you mistreat my brother from Africa/Asia/America my religion gives me right to fight for their right and help them.

In every way possible. You see Iran weaponing Hizbollah and Syria too. Other Muslims in this region are so coward to even speak up. Atleast if they just zip theit mouth and stop passing these useless Fatwa's against Hizbollah would be a great help if you can't do anything else.

If you can give them money to build again their countries... Feed their families..Anything is fine but to attack them and side with their enemy that is unacceptable, like some Muslim countries doing right now. without naming any names now.
