theres no such thing as allah made you gay.......no one is born gay......for those who do become gay..they need to realise that it's a test.god creates this in them to test them..they very well know it's wrong. and haram and its their decision to carry with it and go to hell or to try their hardest and stop for the sake of allah and go jaana....people get tested in different ways...and this is just one of them...

This link doesn't have the most comprehensive explanation, but it is a good place to start.

The scientific evidence is simply overwhelming. Attitudes such as yours above can only be described as bigotry. The Christian Right agrees with your analysis, but is relatively rapidly being overcome in the West as additional studies come out and reach the general population.

It is my opinion that the treatment of homosexuals, hermaphrodites, transgenders, etc., is a valid civil rights issue.

"theres no such thing as allah made you gay."

A few sentences and a little while later:

"for those who do become gay..they need to realise that it's a test.god creates this in them to test them."

Am I the only one who sees a discrepancy?

Grant

Given you're my senior by half a century, I'm interested in your view on gay adoption. Now I'm all for equality for gays and lesbians, and I believe they ought to receive the same marital rights and all the rest of it, but I haven't made my mind up as regards this thorny issue. Is it really a sensible idea?

my point is god is testing them...he creates this in them...to test them not to make them gay......and live gay life style..but to see how they react...and what choise they make....?

people get tested in different ways....?

what other explanations would you give to homosexulity then?

i mean are pervets who like little kids born with it 2?
come on man all these are allah testing people?
it's shaytaan making them like this and they cant act upon their desires...because it's forbidden....

AA,

I saw one study that seemed to indicate there was no problem, but I really don't think we have enough data yet for a conclusive answer.

I think adoption for most gay couples is only an issue when one partner has children by a previous relationship and the non-parent wishes to acquire parental rights.

Articles I have seen in the Chronicle indicate that gay couples who want children are simply having their own. Men supply their own sperm and hire surrogates. One organization here in Oakland regularly advertises for gay sperm donors for lesbians, a good number of whom are having large families. All indications are that children respond to love and nurture. Period.

I suspect that, at least in the secular world, in the next generation all of this will be a non-issue.

grant,

exactly. personally, i don't want to have children. i would only have children if i met someone i fell in love with, and he happened to be a man, and he had children. it is too much responsibility. and i have enough on my plate as a somali, as a muslim, as a queer, as whatever Very Happy

and, i think, most queer men feel that way. i think that women are a bit different. the 'feminine' woman in a lesbian relationship more often than not has that "time clock"-- where she yearns for parenting.

coming from a culture where men have children for the evil purpose of making their clan larger, i have a deep rooted belief that most straight men, and i dare say most, wouldn't want children if asked for the right reasons Wink
