A bold move, but a risky one should the civil conflict resume.

It is definately time for the US and Europe to start working on moving away from patroleum for the transporation industry. Massive transport ships with nuclear power are the way to go. We should start building ships larger, much larger, than aircraft carriers to be used as cargo carriers.

I also predict that as the cost of aircraft fuel soars, there will be a return to ship travel. With satellite communications, we can minimize the negative impacts of being out of office for so long.

It will be interesting to see how the world adjust to the changes in fuel availability.

What will they do with resulting toxic nuclear waste?

Toxic waste from nuclear fuel is over-rated. It can, and is, being stored. As long as society is responsible about it, it is not an issue. In some former Soviet states, unfortunately, the Soviets were no responsible and the result has been contaminated areas that have had a negative impact on the health of the citizenry. But really, in the West, the storage of nuclear waste has not been a big deal. It just scares environmentalists because of its long shelf life. But truth be told, very few energy production methods don't scare environmentalists. In fact, in a practical sense I can't think of any.

Ofcourse it is not a big deal for they dump their poisonous radioactive waste in poor african nations with no functioning governments. But seriously Mad infidel, if you think toxic waste disposal is not a big deal then you are more of an idiot than I thought.

The ONLY country reported to be dumping in Africa, and even that wasn't substantiated, was Italy.

The US has controlled dump sites and they have never been an issue. France runs one for Western Europe and it hasn't been an issue either.

The waste is contained in large, concrete and steel containers and placed in protected sites. It really is not a big issue.
