I'm surprised there aren't more deadly car accidents reported in Mogadishu. Not only the streets are currently at their worst shape (for the most part) people drive all over the place there is no rules or precedence of people or animals and worst there are as many cars with the wheel on the left hand side as ones from Britain, very disorienting.

Actually they have traffic police in some of the major roads. But I guess they canÂ’t monitor every road with their limited resources and looming wars.

Eye only, Please differentiate a check point or formally a "Isbaaro" from a traffic police. There is no traffic Police anywhere in Xamar today.

Demure, call it whatever you want. I saw a man dressed in uniform with a firimbi in the middle of the road waving to preceding trafic on AlJazeera. If that is not a traffic police I don't know what is. Plus there has also been reports of the people organising themselves and respecting the rules of the road.

Anyway, the increasing traffic is a good sign but there needs to be an increased investment in the roads. So far the UIC is dealing with major problems like the huge whole in the middle of the road in wardhiigley. They canÂ’t be expected to do everything all at once.
