Playing with death in Lebanon
By Mark LeVine

In the wake of the latest political assassination to rock Lebanon - last week's shooting of Pierre Gemayel, a scion of one of the foremost Christian Maronite political families - suspicion fell on the Syrians, and perhaps Hezbollah, as the most likely culprits.

There is some logic to this view, given Syria's likely involvement in the assassination in February 2005 of former prime minister Rafik Hariri. Gemayal's is the fifth assassination since Hariri's; most

This is clearly isreals doing.

no body can prove who did it and the blame is on Syria.

This weakens Syria, and the Hezbollah without a war.

But who dares to point the finger at Israel...in terms of western leaders...??

Therefore no one will even bother entertaining the possibility and there will never be an investigation.

Foked up Arabs...Foked up world....Smart Jews.

After reading the link, I see Levine's point. But personally I feel even if the jews did it, it won't go down the way they want it to because the motive is so transparent, even a child could see through it. So I think that contrary to it leading to a breakdown, I think it'll harden the resolve of Lebanese, both Muslim and Christian.

"The death of Pierre Gemayel could well push Lebanon to the brink of civil war and lead to further alienation of Syria and Hezbollah from the international community"

It could, but I think it's unlikely for the reasons I outlined above.
