How Poor are our people? *Somalis*

Postby Lord Diplock » Tue Dec 19, 2006 5:33 pm

After many years living in England, I went to NFD last year and I was shocked by the appalling level of poverty and unemployment rate among my people (both close and distant relatives)

** something like 40 people depends on remittance £ sent by me and my elder brother for their monthly upkeeping (food, hospitable bills, school fees, bangs for the local police Laughing etc

**relatives in the bushland live on something like few US dollars cents a day.

** The number of somalis school leavers walking around Garissa town in Kenya amounts to something like over 80 per cent [my own unscientific estimation]

** the booming business is at the hands of few connected individual. and this guys are killing it, massive houses, great private schooling for their kids, security guards etc.

What I am trying to convey is: dispite the 'development' taking place in home town, the wealth is not dripping to those in needy and consequently, apart from few lucky ones like moi, my people are poor.

is this the same in somalia?
How poor are our people in Mogadishu? Mudug? Gedo? Puntland? Somaliland? Ogadenia?

Are our people in these region primarly dependent on remittance money by relative abroad?

honest answer please.

most somalis in Somalistan are poor. Only a few have money. However your view (and all of us in general) of poor and rich is extremely biased. A guy with a hundred camels thinks he's balling but you and I think he has no funds and no health care so he must automatically be a bum rite? Laughing

Somalia needs a miracle.

Fortunately, Allah is capable of miracles. I just hope the Diaspora is learning new skills and trying to do something productive for their relatives.

I was actually refering to that born in east la movie of which you have a similar story.....It's a story of an american mistaken as an alien and deported to mexico, hence the name born in east l a comes from that....Very funny movie...You too should have a movie titled born in south central la and tell your story of how you were wrongly deported to canada.
