PRESIDENT YUSUF: TIME FOR COURAGE..GO IN NOW..

Postby Galol » Sat Dec 30, 2006 7:23 pm

I never had much liking for President Yusuf because I know his history which is largely ignoble. Exceptions were his establishment of Puntland as a haven of relative peace and his courageous fight against Wahabbists there in the 90s. Everything else he did was well, shady to say the least.

What concerns me is his lack of political and physical courage. I will accept that from a civilian but this man is a career army man.

He really should have gone straight to Mogadishu after his election in Nairobi in 2004 because although many Hawiyes do not like Daarood and Mog is a Hawiye town, Mogadishans were nonetheless sick and tired of the warlords and clannism and would have welcomed him with flowers not bullets as he feared. Ironically the very hawiye Warlords he said will assasinate him ran to Baidoa from the Wadaads who themselves turned out to be paper tigers.

Now yusuf have been given another chance by the Ethiopians. History will judge him and Geddi harshly but perhaps less so if he now goes in to Mogadishu and acts like a president taking over the reins of what at least looks like a nation.

But he is still dithering. He is in Afgoye and had to wait for Geddi to come back from Mogadishu to meet him in Afgoye!. What is he scared of?

Time to go in Mr. President. At least show the people that your humiliating invitation of Ethiopian occupation resulted in the re-establishment of a Somali State. If not people will think it was all for nothing and history will judge you even harsher. Go in now and tell the nation sorry but we have to do it..

Galol,

Actually for once I agree with you, the so called president who was elceted by Somalis, and established by the traditional enemies of Somalia,(Ethiopia) needs to go to Xamar NOW, before things get any worse. He needs to prove himself to Somalis once and for all, It's now or never. He already humiliated himself, enough when he cried for Amaxaro's help.

Anyhow as we all know for the last 16 years Somalis have been under the rule of warlords who by any means didn't understand what it means to be a human, they never cared about law and order, and in order to avoid all that, chaos all over again, A/Y needs to make a move before history repeats itself.
