CABDI INDHOBUUR:THE GREAT WAR TIME ARTIST 77-78

Postby Galol » Tue Jan 02, 2007 8:10 pm

Does anyone remember this great artist's work in the 77-8 war? It is history's judgement that those who dedicate their art to their nation during wartime are only valued by history if their nation wins those wars.

Even if the war was Just they are discarded as the humbled nation quietly succumbs to the new realities and tries to ignore or even abhor everything associated with the failure.

This man stands out in two ways: He was a Hawiye and Hawiyes are not reknowned for making great contributions in Somali oral art; and that his songs were beyond rousing; beyond propoganda.

He said this:

" Waddanigu Nacabka nugleys raaca marna kama naxoo niyadaa ka adag..nabadiyo wanaagii waadigi nacee nuug nabarada waddanigu ooy kugu naaxiyaayaan nuug.." (" The patriot never feels ruth..for the enemy that seeks weakness..the idea is so much stronger..you rejected the goodness and peace so let it seep unto you the wounds being inflicted by the patriot")

His other songs were at least as powerful. Does anyone remember his other work? And does anyone know what happened to him? Did he do any more work after the defeat of 78-9?

It is even more important they know something about the real Somalia. Somalia before the Warlords and Wadaad stupidity and covered up maidens and dead cities and treacherous governments.
