First they have the choice of not joining at all.

If they feel compelled, for economic reasons, to join the armed forces, they can join the Air Force, or Navy, if they feel ground combat is too risky or they don't like the idea or whatever.

IF they decide on the Army, then they have the choice of which branch they want to join. You volunteer for the infantry and other combat arms. After your first tour, you volunteer for the Spec Ops community (where you may or may not be selected during the selection period).

So, as you can see, there are no kids being compelled to join the infantry and sent to harms way because they are black. It's a fantasy stoked by certain politicians for political gain.

If I was a poor kid with no opportunities, ofcourse I would join the Armed Forces.

I would join it ASAP. It gives you good skills and it gets you out of the ghetto, so if you get out of it alive, you can get $$$ for school, good skills in technology and hardware nobody else would give you access to.

Heck, I'm thinking about joining myself and I'm not poor
