PARIS, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- French doctors carried out a partial face transplant on a man on Sunday, the second operation of its kind in France, Le Parisien newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The patient, a 27-year-old man, was suffering from an illness known as neurofibromatosis, which had disfigured his face. During the surgery, he received a new nose, mouth and chin.
A group of doctors led by Dr Laurent Lantieri from Henri-Mondor hospital in the Paris suburb of Creteil carried out the operation, said the report.
A French woman received the world's first partial face transplant in November 2005. She had lost her lips and nose after being mauled by her dog.
