Are Puntlanders Somalis?

They say they came to Somalia only 8 or so hundred years ago... but the land of Punt, if it's indeed the current Puntland, was inhabited by locals as described by the Egyptians. Clearly these ppl couldn't have been present "Puntlanders". Further if Puntlanders believe their own stories of arab origins, why is their connection to Somalis?

I know the Egyptians traded with Puntland. The point is the land was populated by a africans long before the arrival of Sheikh Al-Jabarti. So why then do present Puntlanders who by their own admission are not even Somalis lay claim to the land of Punt as theirs?

BTW, I'm not trying to dispute what Puntlanders say they are. If they say they're arabs, I take them at their word. WHo am I to disagree? Don't be so arrogant as to tell others what they are.

I agree with you about Hawiyes mixing with Bantus. Many have prominent Bantu features not found in other somali clans.

Then they migrated from central highland Ethiopia

Oromos stayed there

Afar went to the afar valley.(South Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia)

Somalis went East and control a large part of the horn.

Till this day Oromos, Somalis and Afars have the exact same paternal DNA

Because of Islam, Arab culture became popular in Somalia and because of the prophet and all that Somalis wanted to be Arab. So some crazy nomads most likely made up their forefather (an Arab) but never existed actually.

You can find Senegalese, Chinese, Indonesian, Nigerian muslims claiming to be Arab but if its true is like the same chance of you winning the lottery.

What a shame.

And also racially looking...most Somalis look nothing like Arabs.
