IRAQ AND SOMALIA: THE DIFFERENCE

Some are saying there is a similarity between Iraq and Somalia. They are wrong. In fact I cannot think of two conflicts and potential solutions more different. Iraq's was essentially a semi-developed secular dictatorship milatarily ousted by a foreign power led by religiously-inclined ideologues. More or less they gave power, not by design but by default- to their mirror-image. The similarities between the Shia religious leaders that run Iraq today and the neocons that run the Bush administration are staggering.
Somalia on the other hand was a basket-case non-entity briefly run by a crazed bunch of moronic theocrats removed by a secular foreign power who empowered a useless secular bunch.
The differences dont end there..so add yours
