The body of former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith cannot be taken immediately to the Bahamas for burial, a Florida appeals court ruled today.
At the request of Smith's estranged mother, the Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach issued an emergency stay of last week's lower court ruling giving custody of Smith's body to a court-appointed guardian for her baby daughter, Dannielynn, a court official said.
The stay will give the court time to consider Virgie Arthur's appeal, which argues that her daughter's body was improperly turned over to the guardian, who intends to bury it in the Bahamas.
