Arap is one of the major subclans of the Somali Isaaq family. They live in western and eastern region of Somaliland and occupy eastern regions in Ethiopia. They also occupy the south of Hargeisa along with Eidagale and are known to have a reputation by Isaaq and other somali families for their bravery as well as warrior capabillity. Arap played a vital role in the SNM for their continuous bravery and hosting one of their cities, Balligubadle, as the capital for the SNM.

The best politicians of these tribe include: 1. Hassan Essa Jama. 2. Mohamed Ahmed (Dayib Gurey). 3. Edna Adan Doctor. 4. Abdi Ali Mahdi. 5. Eng.Keyse. 6. Abdillaahi Hussein Darawal. 7. Col. Mohamed Saqadhi Dubad. 8. Eng. Mohamed Mohamoud Kare.
