(SomaliNet) Despite the fact that a fragile truce is holding for the fifth day, both sides are still getting reinforcements and preparing for possible all out war – this creates a greater concern to residents of the capital who are fleeing in their thousands.
Somalinet witnessed that both the Ethiopian soldiers and the Islamists are getting in positions in the event of possible attack.
Over the last few days, additional Ethiopian forces were pouring into the capital to reinforce already stationed soldiers while on the other side is conscripting volunteer fighters.
The insurgents opposing the presence of the Ethiopian forces in the country are seen digging trenches in their strongholds in the capital.
“This is really worrying us because the two sides appear to engage in all-out war†claimed one resident. “I do not know what to do for I cannot get money to evacuee my family from here if the war restartsâ€
In December, the Ethiopian forces ousted the Islamists from the capital. The Islamic Courts Union which has been ruling much of the southern Somalia now appear to be regrouping.
The Ethiopian government sees the Islamist movement in Somalia as threat to its existence and vowed to crush down the remnants of the Islamist whatever it takes.
