Somalia PM says fighting will continue
Sat. April 21, 2007 07:42 pm.- By Mohamed Abdi Farah. - Send this news article

(SomaliNet) Somali’s interim Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi late Saturday urged people to flee insurgent strongholds in north of the Somalia capital as heavy shelling raining is down there to clear away what he called ‘the terrorist groups’.

In an interview with Somaliweyn Radio, newly opened FM station in the capital, Mr. Gedi said the government troops with the help of Ethiopian forces will continue the fighting until the remnants of the ousted Islamists are cracked down.

He strongly dismissed that the fighting in Mogadishu is between Hawiye clansmen and Ethiopian soldiers. “The battle is between government forces and terrorists, there are no Hawiye people involving in the conflict,”

“I urge all Somalis living the areas infested by the terrorist cells to abandon there and flee to safe areas. I also appeal to the displaced people to return to villages that terrorists were liberated,” added Ali Gedi using strong words.

He said it is incredible to negotiate with what he called ‘the Al-Qaeda operatives’. “Fighting is the only language they can understand because they have been responsible for the instability and chaos in the country,” said Gedi.

Mr. Gedi expressed deep sorrow over the casualty on the civilian people killed or wounded in the fighting and also those displaced from their homes and faced problems in the outskirts of the capital.

He denied recent allegations from the UN aid agencies that the government had hampered the accesses to reach relief supply to the suffering people outside of Mogadishu as propaganda.

“I don’t know where the government rejected aid agencies to be given access to help the dying people but this is fabricated story aimed to shame the government,” said Gedi. “They made this allegation after they denied the government to look over the food aid before distributing”.

Meanwhile, the fighting is continuing in north of the capital with the Ethiopian forces advancing towards insurgent strongholds, sources say this evening.

About 150 civilians have been killed and 350 wounded in four days of fighting in Mogadishu as remaining residents continue to flee the city escaping the exchange of heavy weaponry.

Mike, I still believe to this day that you are not that dirty Isaaq iyo Italian by product posted on here, but that obese cow with the two overly sized children.
