What northern darood clans was behind genocide of Issaq ?

Postby Manaking » Sun Apr 22, 2007 1:40 pm

Officially it was Somalias President Barre who ordered and stood responsible for the genocide of the northern Issaq clans of then the united Somalia .

But excactly what clans were doing the dirty work and providing soldiers .
I have heard several versions from Hawiya soldiers or Harti darood behind it .

Was it Dhulbahante and Majerteen
Or was it Majerteen and Hawiya

Manaking

Ina Baxar, who i believe is Habar awal, was bragging about the genocide carried out by General Yoonis Habane of the Habar Awal agains the civilians of Mudug in 1979-81. Habane at the time was a high-ranking general in the Somali Army in the days before he defected to the SNM. He massacred tens of thousands of Majeerteens, poisoned their wells, looted their livestock, and allowed the rape of their women. And in 2007 Ina Baxar is bragging about it on Somalinet. Disgraceful.

okay I will let this thread go dead
but somaliman%

your post sounds like nazis who dont believe holocaust ever took place ....

However I still believe the genocide was orchestred by Darood against Issaq .
And today a new genocide is taking place against Hawiya by Darood allied with foreigners .

You can't claim this as an majerteen and Tigray thing only.
I think we have to see the whole picture here .

Not that it counts anything for Hawiya
just like they refused to respect Somaliland with their TNG goverment and Hawiya president before A/Y TFG

Liqaaye Tiidhi and guray81,

Speake on what you are avid on and don't make wild claims, the entire Dhafoor Qiiq were fighting in Hargaysa under Gen Morgan, all former SSDF rebels were fighting the SNM in Hargaysa under their cousin Morgan , they were supposedly to avenge what the Isaaq officers did allegedly to their kind in now Buqland.

The OLF was under Axmed Cumar Jees , after the SNM expelled all Ogaadeens from western Somalia and completly whiping them out by 1986.

No Hawiye officer of any merit led or commanded an exclusively Hawiye unit to fight Isaaq, not even in Berbera where the commander was Cabdicaziiz Bare. In fact 90% of Isaaq civilians were let go by Hawiye , while the Daarood were shooting them on the spot allied by the Oromo refugees in Hargaysa in particular.

Burco also was commanded by Xaarti officers , Cadceed and Faalso.

Both Haarti and Ogaadeen fought along tribal line defending Siad Bare out of tribal loyality while other somali soliders just fallowed orders.

So don't make this stupid claim unless you can back it up.

Manaking, offically it was the vice-president Maxamed Cali Samatar who ordered the attack and he admitted that on bbc interview saying that he had to use brute force to destroy the coward SNM movement once and for all. Maxamed Siyaad Barre (RH) couldn't do much as he was still experiencing the effects of the car accident in '86 and only had to dedicate a hour at most to minor duties and public appearances.

The Times (issue 1986) writes:

"The most likely replacement is the Vice-President, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Ali Samatar, who assumed power when General Siad Barre was injured in the crash. He is not of the same clan as the President."

And guess what, Maxamed Cali Samatar is Madhibaan not Daarood.

Lastly, if you call what happend in the north "genocide", then you should equally call the crimes of the SNM genocide too since they also targetted thousands of non-Isaaq civilians.
