Somalia: Mogadishu authority bans cars with tinted windows

(SomaliNet) The transitional federal government Friday issued an order banning the civilians from driving cars with tinted windows inside the capital giving them ultimatum of three days to remove the colored goblets as the forces deployed in the streets of the city establish the security.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new governor of Banadir and mayor of Mogadishu, General Abdi Hassan Awale ‘Qeybdid’ the commander of Somalia police said anyone who is found driving cars with colored glasses will be seen as peace killers and will face penalty.
“We are warning the civilians not to use tinted glass cars inside the city and we are giving them three days to comply with the government’s order,†added. “Three days after, anyone who is seen driving these cars will be punished,â€
The move he said is aimed to restore peace and security in Mogadishu after 16 years of anarchy.
Mohamed Omar Habeb ‘Mohamed Dhere’, the governor of Banadir and mayor of Mogadishu who spoke at the ceremony revealed that the government has banned the people from possessing and holding illegal weapons.
Mohamed Dhere handed over 10 war vehicles to the minister of interior to patrol through the capital.
Among the officials who spoke at the ceremony was Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi who said he is supporting the new authorities in Banadir province.
Yesterday, some of the key local businesses surrender their weapons to the transitional federal government as promised in return the government will guarantee their safety.
