][ The Upper Hand! who will give Sadaqah For Allah's Sake ][

Postby SoMaLiSiZz » Fri Jul 08, 2005 8:09 am

السلام عليكم ورحمه الله وبركاته

Islam encourages the Muslim to spend from his money for Allah's Sake whenever he is capable of doing so, and it stresses on the great virtues of giving a charity

The prophet (PBUH) said, 'The Upper Hand is better than the Lower Hand. The upper hand is the one that gives, and the lower hand is the one that takes'.

Allah SWT said in the Holy Book, 'The likeness of those who spend their money for Allah's sake, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn), it grows seven ears, every single ear has a hundred grains, and Allah multiplies (increases the reward) for whom He wills, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures needs, All Knower' (2: 261).

Allah SWT aslo said, 'Whoever works righteousness, whether a male or a female, while he (or she) is a true believer, verily to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do.' (16: 97)

The prophet (PBUH) stated, 'The Charity does not lessen one's money'. As we know, the number of the money we have is not what counts, but it is the value of the money and the things you can get with this money is what counts.

In the Hereafter, the charity could be the reason for protecting oneself from Hell-Fire even if it was as small as a piece of date!

The prophet (PBUH) said, 'There will be none among you but will be talked to by Allah on the Day of Resurrection, without there being an interpreter between him and Allah. He will look and see nothing ahead of him, and then he will look (again) in front of him, and (only) the Hell Fire will confront him. So, whoever among you can save himself from the Fire, should do so even with one half of a date (means: even if all what you can give as charity is one half of a date)'.

Allah Also SWT said, 'Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply it many times?' (2: 245).

When the believer keeps on feeding his money with charity, this enlarges the blessing in his money. With a certain amount of money he would be able to do more than what he used to do before, not to mention the harm that would be pushed a way from his money

The prophet (PBUH) said: 'Seven (types of) people will be covered with Allah's shade on a day when there is no shade but His Shade, (from among them) a man who gives a charity hiding it, that (even) his left hand does not know what his right hand has spent'.

Allah SWT says, 'Whoever does an atom weight of good he shall see it (in his book), and whoever does an atom weight of evil he shall see it' (99: 7 & 8 ).

Allah SWT said, 'Kind words and forgiveness are better than a charity followed by injury' (2: 263).

وعليــــــــــ السلام ورحمة الله وبركاتة ـــــــك

Thank you sister for encouraging us to pay for the sake of Allah. One of the areas Somali people are doing poorly is the charity in sake of Allah. I will warn you and myself that we do not fall into the category of those that preach righteous, but don't actually do it. Al hamdu Lilaah we have a lot of good people among us, but most of us substitute talks for actions. Here is a story I was once told:

A group of Somalis moved to small state in the USA and a man whose father used to be good Muslim lived close by, but unfortunately the man did not follow his fathers foot steps. Anyhow, when the man saw these new immigrants (Somalis) who were said to be Muslims, he decided to help them for the fact that the share same believe as his late father. Anyhow, the man decided to talk to the local government to secure a place of worship for them that belong to him (his back yard). The local government gave him the go ahead permission. Therefore, the man along with his wife started building small mosque for the community putting their money, time and effort into the project. And it was said that Somalis would come to simply check if the building was finished or not and go back without giving a hand to the couple. At last, the man and his wife were able to finish mosque in time for Ramadan and Somalis started praying there. The man and his wife took a further step during Ramadan to provide iftar food for the Somalis. As was narrated to me, the Somalis would come, pray, preach, eat the iftar that was prepared for them by the non-Muslim guy and his wife and then take off. This cycle continued till the man ran out of money, motive and patience. At last, one night the man got drunk and he came to the mosque which was right behind his home and took the microphones as it was his(so was everything in the mosque) and talked about how good of a Muslim his father was. Moreover, he mentioned that as a kid his father used to give them money to put to the donation boxes at the mosque, every Friday. At the end, he asked everyone to get out of the mosque and said that they (Somalis) were not Muslim, but they were simply claiming it. His famous quote was: "I never seen a Muslim person who does not give charity, let alone during the holly month of Ramadan!"

Maasha Allah my parents taught me as younger boy to invest in the hereafter account for it is there that investment yields highest profit. Finally, thank you for mentioning that nice words alone can be consider a charity because kindness is another section that we need to improve as a community. A Wiseman once said, bad words don't kill people, but they sure leave a lasting scar in their hearts. So even if you don't have money to donate, donate kind words to your fellow human beings.

Once agian Jazzaka Allahul Khayr sister and may Allah make us all among those that spend in his sake.

~Simple Man
