KingMJ,
Sowie, but it is the truth, our culture encourages this though. I have mainly seen this in the older generation though, even though these jahil thoughts are still with the younger guys too. Like I dare one guy in the masjid to say I clean the plates and cook food in my house? I double dare him to be Somali  Even worse some of them won't even help out their wives. That is what I mean personality, this falls under that you know.
Praying and fasting the least we can do, I just see more practising Somali girls than guys.
So do you mean just deen wise there are more available "Ideal" Somali girls than Somali guys?

Cooking and cleaning...Is that really that important  Hows being able to make toast, cereal, ready made meals, and head stuff up ;)

But aabo used to tell me cooking iyo cleaning is shaaqo Gabadha. So thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Then again aabo went to boarding school from the age of 8 and knows how to cook, clean, use the washing machine, iron and even sew

your "ideal man" is your father.
:o Really? And in every aspect? :? I love my father and if my husband had SOME of his traits, I'd be happy.
your father( older brother or step-father if your dad wasn't around) is the most important male in your life. it's through your interaction with him that you learn how to behave around other men. he is your most important male role model.

the way your parents interact and the type of relationship they have will give you an idea of how marriages/relationships should work and that's probably the type of relationship you will end up having. if your relationship with your father was pretty strained then you will probably end up in a lot of destructive relationships but if your father was loving and you had a great relationship with him then you'll most likely gravitate towards men who share the same qualities as him( gentle, committed, a family man etc).

some women who had a really horrible relationship with their father will try to find someone who is the complete opposite of him... but at the end of the day, they're still looking for their father, right?

simply put: your ideal man is your father and no one will ever measure up to him. y'all need to be realistic and cut the dudes some slack.. finding a good man should be more important than skin complexion and height.

as for the chicks with unresolved daddy issues, please figure that ish out before you start looking for a spouse. ain't nobody trying to replace your father.

I would be happy with a man who's got similar traits to my dad. Lakin if you want your husband to be exactly like your father waa a bit confusing if it's true that men want their mothers and you say that women want their fathers then that turns the whole thing into a twisted Freuden tale.
