Call of Duty, Guns and video games

Postby BlackVelvet » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:39 am

Do you think it is a just a part of boys growing up or a horrible culture that has been accepted as the norm?

Boys are always more physical and generally enjoy violent games but damn it's become normal to kill people in video games and that can't be healthy.

Would you buy this as a present for your brother/cousin/friend and in future/present would you buy it for your sons?

No, I wouldn't recommend it for our family. I've seen the effect video games have on children and young adults. I mean look at most Asian families they don't promote excess games and play time. I attribute that to their high achievement in life when in western countries especially.

There is a hadith which tells us to teach our kids riding horses, swimming and archery so encouraging our youngsters in performing any kind of sports is the key to healthy bodies and minds.

This is what I am talking about. If kids did these no way they'd have the energy for anything else right? Occupying their time completely seems the only way because in school, friends and neighbours, everyone seems hooked on these games.

XalimoFarax, I have actually seen guys say you are never too old to play video games

Actually Asians tend to have the highest addiction rates. Maybe not so much the Indians if that's what you mean lakin orientals are on another league.

Now My little cousin who's 12 has become hooked and finds every excuse to come over to my house and play. Am I a unfit older cousin :|

^^

Yea its Call of Duty that He's hooked to. His Mom doesn't let Him play any video games, and even cut off her cable on purpose so thats Why I let Him play. I probably should stop though as to not frusturate His Mom's efforts.

I dont see anything wrong with video games.. Obviously it'll have to be age appropirate for the kid.. But they shouldn't be on it 24/7.. Once in a while is caadi.. Marmar I prefer them on it than outside getting into trouble.
My brothers are more into football games rather than ones with guns involved.. :|

And what's wrong with men old enough to be fathers playing video games? I dont see nothing wrong with it..

Nothing wrong with FIFA and the non violent games but the killing ones are just ridiculous and shouldn't be sold regardless of age limits.

Grand Theft Auto is the worst. First time I saw it I was horrified, to get points you have to beat up random people and steal and they wonder why crime rates are high. Having a story line and a cool dialogue doesn't make it ok to take part in a game where the sole purpose is to kill. It's not healthy. Studies have been conducted on this, it changes how you think, how you behave and ultimately what you think is right and wrong.
