I think it's risky thing to do but you'll hear all kind of stories but only God knows how it would turn out to be; ..the good thing about most guys back in home is obviously their dhaqan and diin but even with that it's not guaranteed that it would work. I know this girl who wanna marry a guy in kenya she met over the internet and is doing everything possible she can do to get him her and they haven't even met..everyone has advised her not to do it cause he is most likely using her to come to europe and that's a normal thing to do for people in africa they will do anything to come her..so I wouldn't take the risk.

There was this man who tricked a woman to marry and sponsor him ..only to switch flight at transit and go to other woman he loved who lived in other european country and she also knew about the plan all along. Bal imagine the poor women who have thrown party, buy whole new furniture and all kind of things getting the news the man isn't coming.

Depends on the guy right? What kind of a person he is, his family, what he does etc.

Just because a guy lives in the West doesn't mean he's free from backwardness and ignorance.

Yup exactly.. But wouldn't the 'language, culture and even sense of humour' barriers be a problem?

Language - I would love a guy who speaks proper good Somali and I think you are insulting those back home if you assume they don't know English, if anything theirs is better lol

Culture - he's Somali right? As long as he's not a sexist, ignorant or arrogant Somali and to be fair you find those everywhere.

Sense of humour - this is an interesting one. I don't know, do you have the same sense of humour as everyone in the UK or even Somalis in the US?

West I don't think its a good idea to marry a man from Somalia and then bring him over here, you don't know how he will react to that environment. But you can easily find an educated, well groomed and cultured Somali husband in Somalia, it should be relatively easy compared to the West.

I myself will hunt for a wife on my trip to Kismaayo inshallah. :D

KingMJ
Maybe if the husband is a bum, or is unemployed he should pick up on some chores. But I'm talking about a man who has strong education, a good job and provides for his family day in and day out, shouldn't need to cook on top of that and thats how life always was
That right there, says a lot.His education, income or job shouldnt dictate how he interact with his family.
I was just talking about why cooking shouldn't be on the list of important things he should do for his family, maybe it should be a bonus but certainly not something important.
