I miss my short hair, it's ... liberating not having that weight and when you can run your palms back and forth on your head, it feels amazing. That said you can't whip your hair back and forth which sucks
InaS nothing wrong with washing your hair as often as you want as long as you're not using shampoo every time like Deqa said. Also try cutting out the brushing, use a wide tooth comb in the shower or even just finger detangle with conditioner. It's not normal to have a whole bunch of hair in your comb/brush when you're done detangling, that's mostly hair you've ripped
