Friend of mine told me a Somali company is bidding to restore to its glory, if Banadir government agrees to pay the costs.

^ That was a family members office a long time ago :)

Even if the government does not necessarily pay for the restoration, agencies like UNESCO would be more than glad to, it's a heritage site.

Restoring the old lighthouse area could generate the city decent tourism revenues given a complete peace prevails and moronism gets eliminated.
Here is Cali Dhaanto praising Muqdisho with a new Dhaanto...What surprised me the most when I was in JigJiga is how open the blue flag is in the streets of JigJiga. There is a huge electronics store with the blue flag painting called Muqdisho/Somalia.
