Hello there, My grandpa owned several Villas in Boondheere, hodan and other areas along with lands but he died during the 1977 France attack on Lowyacado Borders with Djibouti. Anyways my grandma had the Documents of those properties until the conflict in 1991 where she was forced by local millitias to hand everything over. Now she's in Toronto chilling and never went back there, so I want to know if there's still a chance for my family to claim those properties. I mean it's most likely that families are living there and the kid the kid that was born in that house probably has his/her own kids now. I herd the Governor of Benadir was being a hero and destroying illgal buildings on Stolen lands and everything but that was for high profile businessmen from Puntland.

Main question is can I still claim them without the Documents.

Nope. You need to have your documents or witnesses who can support your claims.

You need documents and even then it's a very risky venture. I know a few people who went back and were murdered for attempting to take back their homes WITH the documents....and sometimes the police were the culprits. The way many people see it, they have squatters rights...30 years of it being their home, they maintained it etc and it should be theirs. I would say build a house of your own, people do not squat in new houses or apartments and they are actually cheaper to build than you think.
