Puntland diaspora need to stop investing in Tuulos

Postby paidmonk » Sun Mar 15, 2009 10:52 pm

Do what Siad did with Xamar, do what Somaliland did with Hargeisa, do what Djibouti did with DJ City, do what France did with Paris, do what Italy did with Rome.

Stick to ONE city, and build it like no other. Sure, its good to have a few large cities, but so long as Majerteen are focusing on their own sub-sub-sub-clan's cities and villages, we'll never have a respectable city at the level of Xamar or Hargeisa. Just look at Somaliland, aside from Burco and Borama which are isolated pockets belonging to single sub-clans (Gadubirsa and HJ), Hargeisa is where HY, Ogaden, HA, Dir, and Harti all come together to invest - even foreigners!

I can provide a million examples showcasing Majerteen idiocy, for example why Majerteen are building villages right outside of Goldogob instead of adding to the main city. Or how Dishiishle are trying to develop Waaciye when they can just develop Bosaso. Or why Qardho is moving up so fast when it serves no real purpose and will take too long to get to a respectable level.

Majerteen should focus on one city. I think Garowe is too close to the lawless Sool region and Galkacyo is too close to the lawless South. Not to mention, not enough clans are centered in Garowe and Galkacyo. We need to develop Bosaso and make that the new capital. It has a port, it has a huge population, and its one of the most popular cities in Somalia among foreigners.

I just think Hargeisa is a good example. If we combined our 3 main cities, we'd surpass Hargeisa in a heartbeat, but so long as we divide our centers of power, we'll never have one great city.

What do you guys think?

I think we should refrain from telling others how to spend their money and use their energy.

I agree with u tht Puntlandd needs to divert and invest all its sources in one city but u can not compare Puntland and Somaliland due to geopolitical and dempgraphic differences. Puntland is on two "enemy fronts'' one being West to Somaliland one being south in Galmudug the city of Garowe and Galkacyo are needed to disperse the centre powers of Puntland so these cities can serve and function as military bases and regional watch towers of Sool and Mudug and also Somaliland demographically speaking is larger thn Somaliland and thus can afford more investment into its city of Hargeisa which as you stated has multiple investors ranging from every Isaaq clan to Darod, Dir clans and various other clans and foreign investors and to further ur point Hargeisa also uses Berbera as a port :som:

Look at China, the capital city is not Shanghai, but Beijing. If u focus on Boosaso alone, then the whole region will try to populate that city and overwhelm all the resources available. It is a good idea developing other small towns, spreading the wealth around. LONG LIVE SOMALIA

Salam i agree what ur saying that the fact that darood need to invest in one city and use it as the major port the same way that isaaq need to invet in other cities such as burco and berbera to invest in...demographically they can but it just seem that right now the population of isaaq is growing tremendously in djibouti and most of the big business are run by isaaq fellas...so i will say we should also invest in our cities and growed and by this way we will most of big cities somali speaking in somaliland...sorry to loose track but as u mention it i agree that tuulo does not need to be invested heavily while most immigratory prospect are seen in bg cities thus creation of jobs are needed which will result in lawful region...salam
