The army was organized into 12 divisions which comprise 4 tank brigades, 45 mechanized and infantry brigades, 4 commando brigades, surface-to-air missile brigade(NOT YET OPERational). 3 artillery brigades, 30 field battalions, and an air defense battalion(NOT YET OPERational). The army's arsenal may include the following platforms, although serviceability of the equipment is poor mostly when it comes to tanks though they're operational and have taken part in as recent battles in eastern somaliland against puntland forces. * Centurion main battle tanks.
