That is why it needs to be contested and not appointed. Because appointing people will give unfair advantage to lesser clans. For example Ayoub clan has 3 seats and the larger Ciidagale clan has 4?? Arap even has more than Ciidagale.. these numbers are not deviced and not related to how large a clan is, but rather what level they are in the subclan-tree hierarchy.

But when it becomes contested, all the Laan Gaabs get what they really worth and the Laandheere gets the bounty. That is how it should be and will become.

The Ciidagale voted not smartly. They voted for a select small number of people, when they needed to spread their votes across a number of candidates. For example, the owner of Ambassador Hotel got the largest number of votes throughout the country, about 15,000 votes alone. That number of votes were enough to bring 3 MPs into parliament. The second runner up was also another Ciidagale guy Mahdi Buuba who recieved over 10,000 votes too..

In comparison, the Sacad Muse and Arap clans averaged between 7 thousand and 4 thousand votes for their MPs that crossed the line. The 20 candidates with the biggest votes were chosen into Parliament... and Ciidagale spent all their voting power for a select number of candidates. I am sure they learned their lesson and the upcoming election in 2011 will be different.
